A Jar of Dreams
This unit focuses on the main themes of A Jar of Dreams by Yoshiko Uchida; believing in yourself, following your dreams through hard work and overcoming the harmful effects of prejudice. During this unit, students will use the Internet to meet some American heroes and then write about their own hero. They will look at artwork that examines prejudice as a theme and then create their own work of art and share it with their classmates.
